janegodzilla: (english majors for the win)
If there's an upside to the break-in situation, it's that I've met my renter's and auto insurance deductible for the year.  So, while I'm not even getting enough money back to cover my textbooks, much less the iPod or the busted window, if something else expensive and disastrous occurs, Allied has got that shit covered. It doesn't make me feel any better right NOW, of course, but I suppose I'll be glad for it if someone sets my car on fire or something. So at least there's that?

Actually, I'm in a fairly decent mood considering how shitty the whole thing is. Nate took me out to dinner Wednesday night and then we went to OMSI After Dark, which is basically regular OMSI except that you get to go at night and no one under 21 is allowed in, and it's completely and utterly awesome. I mean, I love kids and all, but I also love playing with the science doodads in the Turbine Room, and being all, "OUT OF THE WAY, ADORABLE FIVE-YEAR-OLD! IT IS MY TURN TO BUILD A TINY WINDMILL NOW!" is not becoming for someone my age. Plus, we got to see the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit, and it was twelve kinds of amazing. His war machines, good lord. Great stuff.

Oh, and! Speaking of great stuff...I'm immensely enjoying Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which Nate bought for me because he is awesome and made of cupcakes. I can't get over how silly and absurd and fun the whole thing is. It probably helps that Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite novels (HATERS TO THE LEFT, I AM SERIOUS), and that I'm picturing the cast from the BBC adaptation the entire time I'm reading it. I haven't finished the book yet, but I sincerely hope Miss Bingley ends up as one of the "unmentionables". Ooh, and that Lizzie kills more of Lady Catherine's ninja squad. Because there are ninjas! Zombies AND ninjas! Sweet rollerskating Jesus, it's going to be such a kick-ass movie. I had no idea Edwardian romance and hordes of the undead could match together so well.

And now it's time for me to fit in a little more studying before I head over to Nate's for the night. My first microbiology exam is next week, and -- per usual -- I'm in a state of mild freak-out over it. C'est la vie.
