Holy crap, has it really been two weeks since I've written in this thing? Lately, it feels as though school has pretty much eaten my life, although -- oddly enough -- I don't mind all that much. Learning about viruses and bacteria and parasites and disease has filled me with all sorts of weird, demented glee, and I'm honestly going to be sorry when microbiology is over and done with. I know I'm a hardcore liberal arts fussypants who's all about creative writing and history and literature and whatnot, but it turns out that me and science are total BFFs. Like, if science was a person? We would have one of those BEST FRIEND necklaces where science has one half and I have the other, and we'd have slumber parties all the time where we stay up late and tell each other secrets and make friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss.
I guess I just find it kind of bewildering that I'm digging it this much. I am so fucking excited that I was able to finally get into Anatomy & Physiology that it's not even funny. I already know that it's going to be an incredibly hard class, but...micro has been a tough nut too, and at this point I'd pretty much have to not show up for the last lab test, the last lecture test, AND our C. diff presentation to get anything less than an A. I'm fully convinced that this is because I actually enjoy learning the material, and thus studying my ass off isn't quite the chore it was in cellular biology.
Technically, I should be studying my ass off right now, seeing as I have a lab test on Tuesday, I have to prep my portion of our presentation by Wednesday night, and we have homework due on Thursday. But my time management skills aren't all that hot on Friday nights, and so instead of studying, I'm sitting in my (blessedly cool!) apartment, drinking a beer and reading Star Trek XI fanfiction. Maybe I'll get really crazy in a bit and eat a salad or something. MY LIFE IS OFF THE FUCKING CHAIN!
In totally unrelated news, Nate and I bought a charcoal grill. It's currently living in his yard (since I don't have a yard, or even a patio) and it is pretty much the most awesome thing ever. I'll be honest -- there's a quiet, shmoopy little part of me that can't help but think, "Hee! We own a grill together!" -- but the much dorkier part of me is all, "OH MY GOD, NOW WE CAN GRILL HOT DOGS WHENEVER WE WANT."
It's the little things that matter, really.
