The zombie apocalypse thing yesterday was awesome. I loved reading everyone's posts. If my brain had been a wee bit more functional, I probably would've joined in, but yesterday was apparently not a creative writing day for me. When I got home, I opened up my two Word documents, stared at them for a while, and promptly went and read a book instead. Hopeless, I tells ya. I hope I'll be more productive today.

I was pleasantly surprised by the book, though. The last two I've read have been great. The first was "World Leader Pretend," by James Bernard Frost, which was not only about geeks, but was beautifully written to boot. The other was "Storm Front," by Jim Butcher. It's the first in the Dresden Files series and I'd had it on hold for-freaking-ever, but by the time it arrived I wasn't really in an urban fantasy kinda mood. But I had nothing else to read that I hadn't already read and I wanted something new, and damn if that book didn't suck me in by the first paragraph. I read the whole thing last night, and now I finally feel like I have my reader-fu back.

It was touch and go there for a while. Everything I read was either pissing me off or boring the hell out of me, and I wasn't finishing anything I started. But! The reader-fu is back and I am one with the Universe (or whatever), and all I need now is for the writing mojo to return so I can finish these two stories already and write something new.

When it comes to short stories, I have writer's ADD. Maybe I should start another novel. That'd keep me focused!
