Hmmm. "Best" is sort of subjective, isn't it? Year of the Flood had the best writing of the books I've read in the last few months, while The Omnivore's Dilemma had the greatest impact on my daily life. The World Without Us was the most thought-inspiring, and The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms was the most FUN. So...those are the best.

I'd normally go on and on quite a bit more, but I'm tuckered out from painting today. Also? It's too damn HOT! I am officially tired of summer. XD

Nate got me Alan Wake for my birthday, and I am alternately delighted and frustrated by it. Mostly delighted -- the frustration comes in when I'm trying to get Alan to run away from a mob of enemies and he gets tired after THREE SECONDS and takes an ax to the back and dies without any dignity whatsoever. He must've rolled VERY LOW in his STR and CON scores, that's all I can figure.

I'm loving all the references to Twin Peaks and Stephen King books, though. Have you played it yet? If you have, what do you think? I just started Episode 3, so spoiler-filled discussion up through that point is A-OK by me!

Have not played it yet, but was thinking that while I wait for Mafia 2 (sandbox style 1940s gangsters FTW) I should try a little Wake. coz it looks cool. and you have pretty solid gamer judgement, so I thought I'd ask.
